Top Five Spots To Stop On Your Road Trip

If you’re taking a road trip up or down the New South Wales coast, we have some spots to hit before arriving at Stoke Beach House. From some of the most epic landscapes and beaches for all you surf nuts and photographers out there to the whopping big banana and then some.

1. BYRON BAY

Byron (or the Bae as the locals call it) is known for its laid-back lifestyle, yoga by the beach, hemp lattes and acai bowls. While it’s the home of the hippies, there’s a reason it’s so popular for both tourists and Aussies alike. The golden sand beaches and epic coast are great for swimming and surfing. In June and October, you can spot whales playing along the coastline as they migrate. There’s also heaps of boutiques, dining experiences and world-class festivals. This place gets busy during schoolies, summer and school holidays, so make sure you book ahead.

2. Coffs harbour

While it’s infamous for the Big Banana, there’s so much more to Coffs Harbour. Known for its diverse marine life, it’s a paradise for scuba diving and snorkelling. Explore the hidden rainforests and waterfalls, but don’t forget to catch a glimpse of the Big Banana on your way through town or for the more adventurous, hit the Big Banana Water Park. #BigBananaEnergy.

Coffs is about a 2-hour road trip from Byron Bay. You won’t regret the scenic drive down the coast.

3. port Macquarie

Port Macquarie is known for pristine beaches, boutique shops and chill vibes. There’s heaps of hidden gems, including some epic picnic spots and dog-friendly beaches, perfect for your four-leg friends to stretch their legs on your road trip. About halfway up the East Coast of NSW, this quiet coasted town is definitely worth a visit.

We recommend stopping in at the Bago Maze and Winery. One of the world’s largest hedge maze’s at over 2000m.

4. seal rocks

While we wanted to keep this gem a secret, awesome things can never be hidden for long. Seal Rocks is known for unspoilt surfing beaches, snorkelling and diving. With panoramic ocean views, this impressive headland and coast are perfect for any beach lover. We love a leisurely walk along the main walking track or down to the rock caves.

Seal Rocks is famous for its lighthouse walk, taking you through the coastal forest to a spectacular view along the wild and remote beaches.

5. manly beach

Now we’ve saved the best till last. You’ve made it down the East coast in one piece, and it’s time to head to one of Sydney’s most iconic and most-loved beaches. Manly is known for excellent surf and great restaurants, but more importantly, it’s not a touristy spot, so you feel like a local.

Fun fact for you, the world’s first surfing contest was held at Manly in 1964. You can even spot world champions Barton Lynch and Layne Beachley throwing shakas in the green room.
